Project 365: 26 out of 365
This week we are on a streak of nothing but Ben pictures. There are some days when the artist in me sees new and inventive ways of capturing beauty, and other days when it's 10:00 p.m. and I haven't taken a single picture, and I snap a shot of the closest person to me, which is always Ben. Though not all of these shots are destined for an art gallery, I think it's important to remember that sometimes getting the shot is more important than winning a prize for the shot. Sometimes the moment is enough.

The ranch was beautiful, timeless, and COLD. Honestly, I started to lose feeling in my fingers, and I'm from Wisconsin, so you know that I am no stranger to icy climates. The horses mostly ignored us, save a glance up from their feed here and there, but they were majestic nonetheless. I relished the familiar smell of barns and hay, and, despite the cold, was sad to leave.

Project 365: 6 out of 365
We started the day early, dropping Ben off at Gram's for the day, so that Rob and I could laze about the movie theatre watching Sherlock Holmes and Avatar, all in one go. This picture was taken immediately before we left. You can see Ben holding Rob's hand closely as they said goodbye.
Late in the evening we met with Rachel and Fred at Bill's Donuts in Centerville. We exchanged belated Christmas gifts with Fred, who gave us this painting that he made for Ben. It is fantastic, and I can't wait to hang it in Ben's new room when we move into a house.
We get home late and Ben is wide awake, much later than he should be, so he and Rob watch music videos to wind down. Then my sleepy husband takes my now sleepy baby, and they travel off to bed. I am still awake, editing pictures.

Project 365: 5 out of 365
Today is another two for one special. The following pictures are of my Mom holding Ben, and then my Great Aunt having quite a laugh. We had a lovely reunion of sorts with my Great Aunt Onabel (Ben's Great Great Aunt), and her daughter Judy. Most of the day was spent snacking on coffee cake, and chasing Ben around my Mom's house, and entertaining various waves of guests as they arrived. It was a pleasant day, and I am quite sleepy now.

Serious and silly. That is my son. He is this painfully beautiful child, who either is either breaking your heart with his puppy dog eyes, or winning you over with his sweet smile. Here is a photographic tribute to the many facets of this sweet and wonderful little person.

Project 365: 3 out of 365
The sunset behind me, on what was a gorgeous day, perfectly captured how I feel about our trip back to Dayton this week. I can remember and enjoy all the things I loved about being in this area, knowing that all of the things I didn't like (high unemployment rate, high crime rate, poor schools) will be left far behind me when we drive back to Madison on Saturday. My thoughts on Dayton, like many things in life, are bittersweet.

Project 365: 1 out of 365
So, I've decided to take the plunge and try the Project 365. You would think that taking one picture a day, for a photographer, would be a piece of cake, but I hear that it is harder than it seems. Here is my attempt to be present in the joy of photography, and to document my project.
