Carlie + James at the Capitol building and beyond!

Carlie and James had two goals on their wedding day:

  1. Get Married
  2. Eat Tacos
They unequivocally accomplished both goals, and stylishly to boot. Carlie and James had a peacock color theme for their wedding day which looked amazing! Their ceremony was in the gorgeous senate room at the Capitol building, with a reception to follow at their new house, catered by Tex Tubb's Taco Palace! It was such a laid back, beautiful day that perfectly captured their love of friends, family, bold colors, tacos, and each other.

My Muse

I love what I do. I love love love photographing families, couples, kids, pets, derby, and all sorts of other fun and interesting things.

But... When I'm working sometimes 70 hours, or even hitting that 90 hour mark some weeks, it can be hard to remember to take pictures for fun, just for me, without a client waiting on the end result. Who has time?!

Sometimes though, when I'm at my busiest, plugging away on creative endeavors with deadlines, Ben, my little muse, will walk into my room wearing a mask, a utility belt and walkie-talkies, wielding nerf guns, and I suddenly remember about taking photos for fun.

"Oh yeah, that's right, life is pretty amazing, and where is my camera?"

He is such an inspiration for living in the moment that it makes my heart melt with gratitude for this little inspirational guru.

Here he is, clearly more ready for life than most of us will ever be.

Derby Life

I was bumming around the house today, being simultaneously excited about the upcoming wedding Rob and I photographing this weekend ( I LOVE weddings at the Union Terrace in Madison!) and sad that the Mad Rollin' Dolls Season 11 Championship Bout falls on the same day, meaning we'll have to sit this one out.

In honor of the bout we'll be missing, I'm posting some of my favorite derby shots from this season.

Until next season!
